The Des Noble 2 Day Enduro will once again mark the final rounds for the WA State Enduro Series. The Enduro, this year brought to you by Midvale Yamaha, will make up the State Round 5 & 6. This will be the State riders last chance to gain valuable points in the series, with the season winner often being determined at this event.
This year has seen many new riders competing in the 2016 State Enduro Series. Max Vlasich has made a strong debut in the Senior State Enduro Series, currently leading the Enduro 2 Class by 8 points ahead Louis Calvin, also making his debut in the State Enduro Series.
Consistency throughout the season has seen Ethan Depiazzi lead the Enduro 1 class followed by Dave Langstone in second place. However, just 1 point separates Anthony Fazioli in third place and Brock Buckingham in fourth place.
In the Masters State Class, last years State Series winner Todd Stewart has a narrow 3 point lead over Frankie Crighton. And in the Veterans class Judd Hunt leads the class by 10 points ahead of Joshua Treasure.
The Women’s class has continued to grow in 2016, with Cara Potts leading ahead of Tenielle Giblett, second and Stacey Pike in third. This year, the Clubman State class was eliminated from the State Series to fall into line with other disciplines.
The Des Noble 2 Day Enduro is being held at Grimwade on the 25th & 26th September. The Des Noble trophy is a long time club achievement and is awarded to the fastest racer over the 2 days. Flowing trails and awesome special tests make for a great weekends riding and you can enter for the SUNDAY OR MONDAY ONLY if two days is not suitable. Camping is available to riders (toilets only – no showers).
The event also forms part of the club enduro series and the club off road series. Trophies will be awarded to the overall winners in each class over the two days; Enduro 1 / 2, Clubman 1 / 2, Veterans, Masters and Womens. Plus all riders and helpers will go into a draw to win a selection of prizes from Midvale Yamaha.
The event is open to all riders, with the option for riders to purchase a one event license. If you are not a current member of a club you can also purchase a one event club membership. Rider’s bikes must be B class licensed, a one event B class license can also be purchased before Monday 12th September. Entries close Tuesday 20th September 2015 at 10pm. There will be no late entries.
History of the Des Noble Enduro
Whilst in more recent years the Des Noble has been held at Camp Mornington near Harvey – this year the event once again will be held in Grimwade.
The following is a little background on the event and Des himself: Des Noble was a founding member of the Suzuki Trailbike Club, which was later renamed the Trail and Enduro MCC. Des was tragically killed in a speedway accident on the 17th Dec 1971 at the Claremont Speedway and it was decided that an event would be run in his memory. The Des Noble Memorial 2 Day Enduro was first held on the March long weekend in 1972 from Jacoby park in Mundaring and was won by Dennis Crane. The organiser of the event was Brian Mitcheson who was the inaugural president of the T & E Club. The event was moved after that very hot first event to the Queens Birthday long weekend and has been run every year since then. After 20 years of being a memorial event the event became simply the Des Noble 2 Day Enduro in 1993.
