As the defending champion, Husqvarna Motorcycle’s Graham Jarvis starts today’s Red Bull Romaniacs as the rider everyone will be trying to beat. Securing his fourth race win in 2013, Jarvis has his sights firmly fixed on making it a record breaking fifth victory this year.
Favouring the hard terrain that the Romanian Carpathian Mountains have to offer, the Husqvarna rider is keen to make amends for his runner-up result in last month’s Red Bull Hare Scramble at Erzberg. Knowing just how physically demanding Romaniacs can be, Graham has been working hard in recent weeks to ensure he is ready for the challenge that lies ahead.
Canada’s Cory Graffunder makes his debut appearance at this year’s Romaniacs. With his notable seventh place result in Erzberg, Graffunder has the ability to offer a strong showing. Gelling well with his Husqvarna TE 300, Graffunder is eager to get his Romanian adventure started.
Red Bull Romaniacs takes place in Sibiu, Romania, July 15-19.
Graham Jarvis: “I always look forward to the Red Bull Romaniacs. It’s one of my favourite races of the year. Starting as the defending champion always adds that little bit of extra pressure but having won the race four times I can deal with it quite well. My plan for this year is the same as always – push hard from the beginning. Day one was the most important day of the race last year and this year will be no different. If I can end it in a strong position I know then I can challenge for the win during the rest of the week. Hopefully on Saturday I can take my fifth Red Bull Romaniacs victory.”
Cory Graffunder: “I’ve always wanted to come and race the Red Bull Romaniacs and finally this year I’ve got the opportunity to do so. I’m Canadian and grew up riding the Rocky Mountains so I hope that experience will help me through the week. After a strong ride at Erzberg I want to back that up with a good result here. I’m looking for to the challenge.”
